After the two historically oriented events, we have now invited current artistic positions to discuss contemporary points of connection to Asja Lāci's theater work. Curator Andris Brinkmanis (Riga/Milan) brought Lācis back into the international art discourse for the first time in 2017 through his documenta contribution. Berlin-based author and theater-maker Tina Turnheim researches and experiments with political-revolutionary theater forms based on Bertolt Brecht and Heiner Müller and responds to Lācis from this perspective. Riga-based writer Inga Gaile (Mercator-Fellow 2022 at CRC) joins us for a production discussion of her current play about Asja Lācis.

At 7:30 pm the workshop will be followed by a staged reading of excerpts from the play "BAD MOTHER A.L." (AT) by Inga Gaile, which explores the feminist legacy of Asja Lācis. Luise Meier and Ingo Tomi will read.

This event is part of the workshop series "Relationships and Knowledge of the Environment" with Mimmi Woisnitza from project A06 and Konstanze Schmitt, guest artist at the CRC.
