This subproject, situated within the research area Global Literature, examines processes of participation and exclusion at the intersection of literature and embodiment. It investigates the cultural, economic, and legal orders that circulate globally and shape literary production, including norms of embodiment, sexuality and gender, migration regimes, concepts of citizenship, and transnational publishing markets. These frameworks operate through embodied forms of inclusion and exclusion by defining legitimate and illegitimate bodies. The project analyzes literary and artistic works by queer, trans*, postcolonial, Indigenous, and stateless authors who challenge these normative orders and develop alternative models of embodiment and relationality. SP1 focuses on the Australian context, examining the work of the Kurdish refugee writer Behrouz Boochani alongside queer Indigenous authors. SP 2 explores the transoceanic work of Kama La Mackerel and other texts from the Indian Ocean and the Caribbean. Literary and artistic works are approached as sites of theory production, generating new perspectives on embodiment, belonging, participation, and resistance.
