Petra Wodtke studied classical archaeology, prehistorical archaeology, Roman provincial archeology and Latin in Berlin, Lausanne and Vienna. She finished her PhD in classical archaeology 2014 as part of the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Cultur (GCSC), Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen, on the material culture of the Roman province of Epirus. Her research focuses on cultural theory, material culture studies and the pluralism of archeological methods and approaches in inter- and transdisciplinary contexts. In research management, she is primarily concerned with research communication. In this combination of reserach and governance, she already worked at the Berliner-Antike-Kolleg (2015-2016), the Antiquities Collection of the Berlin State Museums (2015-2018) and the Clusters of Excellence Topoi (2016-2018) and Temporal Communities (2019-2021). Her focus is on the cooperation between science and non-university partners, especially art and cultural institutions. She is the initiator of the Antiquity Slam and writes stories in simple language as Die Taten der Herkuline or Am Meer.
